Downsizing is an essential part of healing

Your recommended downsizing window is listed on your written aftercare leaflet.

Once initial swelling has reduced, leaving a longer bar in for too long can increase movement and irritation — and may lead to migration, rejection, and delayed healing.

Timing matters

Some piercings need downsizing sooner than others, so please return within the timeframe on your leaflet.

• Within your advised window: no £5 fitting fee — you’ll only pay for the downsize post (£12.50–£20).
• Check-up appointments are always free.
• If your piercer needs to extend your downsizing period, they’ll update your aftercare leaflet — and you won’t be charged the £5 fitting fee as long as you return within the updated window

Returning late

If you return outside your recommended window, a £5 fitting fee will be added, and your jewellery warranty may be at risk. Longer jewellery than needed is more likely to snag, which can damage attachments — and breakage caused this way isn’t covered by the manufacturer.

If downsizing is missed completely

Piercings that aren’t downsized correctly can migrate to the point the angle is no longer viable. In some cases, the piercing may need to be removed and re-pierced after healing. This can take months and would be charged as a new piercing with new jewellery at full price.
